Athlone is where I live and work, so weddings here are on my own doorstep. I know the venues, the light along the Shannon and the best places for a few quiet minutes away from the crowd.
Weddings in my home town
Athlone sits right in the middle of Ireland, on the River Shannon where Westmeath meets Roscommon. That central spot is one reason so many couples choose to marry here: guests can reach the town easily from every direction, and there’s a good choice of hotels for everyone to stay.
Living here means I know the local venues, the churches and the riverside well. Because of that, I can plan the day around the light and the layout, and I already know where to go if the weather turns.
Getting there: This is home, so there’s no travelling at all. There are no travel charges within Ireland.

Can we have our photographs taken by the river?
Yes. The Shannon is one of the best things about marrying in Athlone. The riverside by the castle and the Left Bank work well for portraits, and they're only a few minutes from most town venues.
