College balls are some of the biggest nights in the student calendar, and they usually involve a lot more than just a few photographs at the entrance.

I photograph college balls and student events throughout Ireland, capturing everything from arrivals and group photographs to the dancing, celebrations and all the moments that happen throughout the night.
My aim is simple, to give students, organisers and colleges a great collection of photographs that actually captures what the night was like.

A college ball can be a busy event, with hundreds of students arriving, meeting friends, having photographs taken and heading into the main event.
I work around the event rather than trying to control it. I photograph the organised parts of the evening, while also capturing the natural moments that happen when people are simply enjoying themselves.
This can include:
- Arrivals and entrance photographs
- Groups of friends
- Societies and student groups
- Formal photographs
- Candid photographs
- Dancing and entertainment
- Speeches and presentations
- Awards and presentations
- The atmosphere and details of the venue
The result is a varied gallery rather than hundreds of photographs that all look the same.
Photographs Students Will Actually Want
For many students, their college ball is a once-off event and one of the few nights when an entire class, course or group of friends will all be together.
I take the time to get the group photographs right, while keeping things moving so people can get back to enjoying their night.
I also photograph the smaller groups and individual moments that often become the photographs people remember most.
Whether it’s a group of friends arriving together, a society celebrating after an event or a packed dance floor later in the night, I want the photographs to feel natural and energetic.
Working With College Event Organisers
I understand that organising a college ball involves a lot more than booking a venue and sending out invitations.
The photography needs to fit around the running of the event and should be straightforward for the organisers.
Before the event, I can discuss the schedule, venue, expected numbers and any particular photographs you want captured. On the night, I work independently and keep disruption to a minimum.
That means the organisers can concentrate on the event while I concentrate on photographing it.
