Getting Ready For Your Couples Photo Shoot

Engagement couples photo shoot

It can be a daunting task, as the pressure is on to look good. But don’t worry, I’m here to help you out with some tips and tricks for what to wear for a couples photoshoot. We’ll give you some outfit ideas, pose suggestions, and talk about what not to do when it comes to posing in front of the camera.

One thing that any couple needs to be aware of when it comes time to have a couples photoshoot is how they should dress for the session. While there are no rules for what you can or cannot wear, there are certain things you should keep in mind so that your pictures turn out well and you both get the most from the experience.

Wear Cloths That Flatter Your Body

There are a couple of things you should keep in mind when choosing clothes to wear for a couples photoshoot. It’s important to find pieces that flatter your body, as many clothing items can make you look heavier or lighter than you actually are. If the clothes don’t fit well, your pictures could end up looking unflattering at best, and downright bad at worst. You also need to consider your coloring for this type of photo shoot. Many people make the mistake of wearing clothes that are similar in shade, when they should really be more contrasting. For example, you don’t want both members of the couple wearing white shirts!

Don’t Try Too Hard

Above all else, try not to look like you’re trying too hard. It’s possible to pull this off, but it is risky. If you want to be comfortable in your clothes, that’s great! Just have in mind that when they are in front of the camera, they will look more stretched out or tighter than usual. You don’t want them to rip while you are posing, or have a seam pop open. You also want to look natural and feel comfortable in front of the lens. If you’re not, your energy is going to show on camera!

Common Mistakes Couples Make When Choosing Outfits

One common mistake that people make during couples photoshoots is dressing too formally. It’s easy for a woman to pick out a cute dress with jewelry and a pair of heels, but this is going to come off as stiff and forced. A cute dress with a cardigan for the woman might be better, or you could even consider wearing matching outfits that are casual, comfortable and stylish. It’s also possible to wear something that works for both members of the couple- such as shorts and a tank top, or a casual dress that is flattering on both people.

Be Comfortable in Your Shoes

For shoes, try to find something comfortable yet stylish. It’s easy to go overboard with all of the details from head to toe, so keep the focus on the clothing as a whole and not just one or two specific pieces. You can choose stylish footwear that goes with your outfit, or you can mix and match with socks and sandals. Just make sure that the shoes you choose are appropriate for the occasion, weather and setting! If it’s going to be a cold day, your toesies might not thank you if they’re sticking out of some strappy heels.

Just Be Yourselves

When it comes time for the actual photo shoot, the most important thing to remember is that you and your partner should be yourselves. Don’t try too hard or force a pose because it will look stiff and unnatural. Work with your photographer to find poses that suit you, and try not to overdo things. You want to look comfortable in front of the camera! If you’re feeling nervous or awkward, try smiling as much as possible. While photos should look natural and you shouldn’t be acting, a big smile can reflect your good mood and help you relax more. After all, it’s supposed to be fun!
