Covid-19 lock-down has been a strange time for many in the wedding industry, and it was no different for wedding photographers. Without weddings, there is nothing to photograph and with so many postponements and cancellations over the course of the lock-down months, it was a very welcoming day to have the privilege to photograph the wedding of Pamela and Uwakmfon.
Pre-Wedding Couples Photoshoot on the Canal
I had recently shot their pre-wedding engagement shoot which was a lot of fun, so I knew this wedding was also going to be fun to work at, from the laughs and jokes during Pamela’s preparations to the fun and laughter during the formal shoot. There wasn’t a dull moment throughout the entire day.
It was a civil ceremony at the gorgeous Raheen Woods Hotel in Galway, which is about a 40 minute drive from Athlone. The celebrant was the lovely Rev Geraldine from Connemara who did a fantastic ‘knot tying’ ceremony.
The Formal Portraits
With the ceremony done, I took the couple outside for some formal portraits which were done in the lovely gardens of the hotel. We had a few choices from open grass areas to shaded wooded areas to landscaped formal paths, a very nice selection of landscapes to shoot the formals.
With the formals and group shots done and dusted, it was time to get ready for the dinner call and the grand entrance. Of course, keeping with the spirit of fun, these guys could not resist a dance on the way to their table at the grand entrance.
Time to Back Things Up
With the dinner under way, it was time for me to take a break and head out to my car to backup all the photos so they are safe in the cloud in case anything should happen to any of the memory cards. Once backed up, it was time for me to eat too.
With the deserts, teas and coffees being served, it was time to get ready for the cutting of the wedding cake which was beautifully displayed with roses, sunflowers and lights in front of a vibrant backdrop.
